Yep, still awesome !!! but this adware (you can disable this in installation...) is annoying for novice users...

I've tried Outpost, Kaspersky, Norton and Online Armor, and while Outpost is the only one I'd consider at least equal to this product, this one is free and beats anything else hands down. Just 2 days ago I tried to install Online Armor Free on a XP machine and it would not even finish the install, freezing at the Wizard. Virtually no slowdowns, very configurable, awesome support and community. As for the other components, the antivirus is very new and has some room to be improved, the HID component is very good but a bit chatty for my taste. If you look for a firewall, look no further! The issue that there's a Safe Surf/Ask Toolbar Component in the installer is minor at best, since you can always chose to not install it, and anyone using a firewall product should pay attention to the prompts anyway. Adware for me is installing annoying stuff without asking for consent, which doesn't happen here.

I don't like the 3.x versions. Interface is a regression from the version 2.x. Too bad 2.x had major stability problems. This version hids the programs in the "Network Security Policy" which normal people wouldn't know to look. Zone Alarm is better in this respect in that the programs listed are in plain view but again, stability issues also affect it too. "View Firewall Events" are pretty lousy too as it only lists what was blocked. What if you had accidentally clicked to allow a program to run? Well, good luck remembering what you clicked since that information won't be listed in the events. As for the anti-virus, it has a lot (and I do mean A LOT) of false positives. You better hope you know what you're doing since it listed some everyday Windows programs as being infected.

You seem to be talking about the firewall part. It will indeed tell you if a file is infected since that's what an anti-virus program is supposed to do. This software has two components, the firewall AND the anti-virus.

sorry i never installed the anti-virus part :) my fault

Its really a shame that Comodo has become, now its a bloatware with adware instalation, some software portal like Softpedia delete Comodo from his list because Comodo refuse to throw away his adware instalation, really really shame.

I always knew this Comodo had nothing but bad intentions, being a wolf, but presenting themselves as sheep.

I don't understand user complaining about Comodo is a bloatware software, this is the best free firewall out there, and for any reason comodo is keeping this software free because there are receiving financial income from advertising. It clear says that you can opt not to install it. User doesn't read, they just click Next button without reading...... Please don't bad rate software because your are lazy to read before install. ...

Can you hear that?? That's the sound of your bandwidth coming to a screeching halt. So not only do I get throttled by my provider(Rogers you suck) but I can compound this further by installing comodo!! Look it might have good protection but it can't match a router for inbound and windows firewall for outbound traffic because neither of those crash like this bloated piece of rubbish. You really do not need this crap bogging your system down. I had been using it for a while BUT as soon as I removed it my download speeds increased by more than %200, no word of a lie.

@ Second Shadow: The reason Comodo added the toolbar has absolutely nothing to do with money or keeping there software free, it has to do with adding there buffer overflow sandboxing to protect a browser from being hijacked, that is all, nothing more nothing less! Since they have now added it to CIS they no longer needed the toolbar, but have since changed the toolbar over to using there HopSurf instead, but as before its still optional, so I wish people get there facts straight including that rathole called Softpedia, who have for the last 2-3 years been as crappy and un-trustworthy as CNET, but thats another story :) Oh to get you using your brain on this adware rubbish, try looking at other software for a change, like CCleaner, ATI Catalyst, Adobe products, or even MS Messanger.......then maybe people like you will stop this crap about Comodo and adware!!

When Comodo first started bundling the adware toolbar, Comodo Antivirus detected the toolbar as Malware. Take a look: http://www.calendarofupd...p;type=post&id=6114 Priceless :) Anyway, to noonelives below, Comodo really doesn't need to bundle an advertising toolbar in order to be able to keep their software free. They're big enough of a company (do some research and you'll see) and, by their own admittance, "Comodo's main revenue comes from authenticating web business with SSL certificates". See: http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/whyfree.html EDIT: To Ajay2k above: Uh, uh, calm down, buddy, no need to get personal here :) I beg to disagree, the reason Comodo added the toolbar has EVERYTHING to do with money. That's what a member of the Comodo Staff said in their forums: "This is just giving our users a choice in their search engine choice and making Comodo some money. " (source: http://forums.comodo.com...tml;msg162838#msg162838). See? ;) And since you mentioned "Buffer Overflows", let me mention that the Ask Toolbar has some buffer overflow problems of its own: "Joey Mengele has discovered a vulnerability in Ask Toolbar, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system." (source: http://secunia.com/advisories/26960/). Reassuring, isn't it? And please don't tell me that you actually believe that HopSurf has nothing to do with Ask Networks Inc.; it belongs to them! Take a look at what they say in the HopSurf EULA: "7.2.If you wish to remove and uninstall HopSurf from your computer, click on the "Start" button; then click on the "Settings" button, then click on the "Control Panel" button, then click on the "Add or Remove Programs" button, then look for "Ask Toolbar" and click on the "Change/Remove" button." That's right, no typo there, crystal clear: "Ask Toolbar" (source: http://www.hopsurf.com/license.jsp). Need I

Comodo is very bloated, only the install is 70+MB, use a combination of other soft take less , out there are better free antivirus and better free firewall, the last Outpost Firewall 2009 Free its more light and its better that Comodo in leak-tests ,that is that Comodo always presume. Comodo its a ad-ware-bloatware crap right now. Much better free alternative exist.

I have to renew my last comment (bad = 1 star), because it was a fault in combination with Avast Antivirus ! Both together break the whole system and it will fall into basement (like i said before) !!! :-( I'm very sorry Comodo (my fault) ! The only weak point (my opinion) : It has to much false alarm (software installation) !

"Wath else you need? Do all to keep your pc safe" Works. Works, Really works. Ask you before to do something, then you can qualified your programs and after it, run safety. nothing to say against Helpfull software, better than others. Stops anything suspicious. Is not only a firewall is a antivirus plenty of functions. In spanish " es una belleza de programa para asegurar que no sera invadido por virus, troyanos y otros ataques"
