the firewall by itself is execlent. i started using it back in 2005 and i have kept up with it, works great and it is free, if you are looking for a good firewall to paur with a free AV i woud recomend this one i didnt relly like the other programs in the internet security like the AV, i installed the security package on my pc and i had some issues with my eset smart security so i uninstaled and just installed the firewal and it works great. i use, love and recomend the firewall, as for the other stuff i wouls use another free av like avg or try to buy one like eset, avg, or avast. if you are looking for a good firewall not many can beat comodos free one. the popups are a bit anoying but they go away after a few days so it isnt relly a issue

"Outstanding security combined with powerful antivirus." Comodo has long been a powerhouse when it comes to Internet Security (specifically the firewall), but the antivirus is surprisingly powerful and very effective. It has a default setting to only scan those files not previously scanned. Haven't seen any yet. The bottom line is that Comodo Internet Security now has a very impressive, robust, effective, and powerful antivirus program. This makes Comodo a smart choice.

Installs pretty fast Tries to connect you to their Trust Connect online antivirus which went on forever installing, then hung up the computer and was nonresponsive! When installing it asks you if you want to connect to their Trust Connect online antivirus, which is suppose to be just an option but not necessary. I unclicked it as I wanted to try it without it being online eachtime. As it was installing I kept checking back to see what it was doing and it was trying to connect me to the Trust Connect anyway. So I tried to stop it and it hung up my computer, then had to reboot. Went into my programs to uninstall, it tells me it's impossible to uninstall, so I went into their website, tried to get a free trial tech support, says it's unavailable. Rebooted and tried to uninstall thru the start programs and it finally uninstalled. Went back to Avast and just added IObit security, we'll see how that goes....

The bugs are 99% fixed. CIS is fairly stable now. This is a firewall + HIPS + AV + sandbox combo. When installing you have 3 options: (1) install it all, (2) install AV only, (3) install all components EXCEPT the AV. If you use CIS, I suggest option #3 because the CIS AV is still a very weak sister. (Better free AVs include Avast & Avira Personal). Once you install, you can use the sandbox or not use it -- your choice. The HIPS component is D+. I find it "weird" to configure -- not "difficult" but "weird". However, it's configured adequately (not "good" but "adequately") right out of the box. Protection is VERY good, but CIS is a fuss-budget at times -- i.e., lots of pop-ups from time to time. I rate it at "4" because there are other similar type combos/suites which are more powerful, & are more intuitive to configure. However, they are NON-free. I will name just 2 such examples (both rate 5 stars): 1- Online Armor & Sandboxie 2- DefenseWall version 3 & Avast

Don't like the sandbox [slider?], the AV is a joke, and the new color is hellish, but otherwise this fw does its job and won't BSOD on other software.

"The most effective free security available!!!" The most effective firewall available to home users!! also includes the most effective HIPS available, blocks 99% of malware by itself, the anti-virus is improving all the time as well all thou id prefer to combine it with Avast Free 5. Not sure about the sandbox Comodo have added would rather just use defence+ to block malware right away rather then sand-boxing it, but sand-boxing will stop a malicious executable from damaging your system Very strong protection an amazing that its completely free, you get everything in one free package, Anti-Virus, Firewall, HIPS and a sandbox.

"Strong Firewall, I took from my old computer to new" The product has firewall and Antivirus programme. I use firwall because it is very strong and gives me the protection I want. I do not use firewall because I have found Avira is better to work with. Technically I do not know which is better but I have confidence in Avira The firewall does not let anything you don't want to pass it but it gives you the choice to let the attack through although it will advise what to do and what type of threat the intruder poses. It gives me flexibility and peace of mind.

Buggy slow ..... nothing good

It's a free security suite which is hard to come by. I do not possess the technical vocabulary to explain the all of the cons. The program is complicated and asks you either too many questions or not enough (depending on your setting). I found it very frustrating and uninstalled it as a result. I just could not get the hang of the program. I have been using the free Zone Alarm for years and am very comfortable with how it operates. I really wanted a firewall/suite that protected you from incoming issues and what I found with Comodo suite is that it asked me a question each time I wanted to open a MS Word document, save, print, etc. I changed settings and then found it did not do enough. For me, it was just too complicated.

"great free security software" works fine, AV is improved, firewall great as always, defense+ does the job, new feature is sandbox and no more pop ups like in previous version, interface is easy to use slows system while updating very good all around protection for free

"very good firewall" very good firewall i just use avast home for a anti-virus nothing seems to work well i like the firewall in case my anti virus misses something it will let me know if a program is trying to install

Older versions of Norton spring to mind. Slow, poorly designed, bloatware. I'll stick to my current AV. Comodo's firewall used to be the only thing I'd recommend for firewall software. Now, it's more of a joke then anything.

While v3 was mature, stable, fast, and good, they replaced it by some ugly looking slow, crap.

I don't really understand where Comdo think they're going with v4* of this product. The introduction of the sandbox is very poorly implemented and instead of enhancing security, seems to do the exact opposite. In addition to the 'sandbox' component, the security settings need to be examined very carefully. Certain configuration choices result in rules that potentially allow all communication out. Make sure you select the 'Proactive' option, if you don't, check your firewall rules before venturing onto the Web. The 'new' web based installer is a bit of a joke, requiring the removal of any existing third party firewall, before downloading this version. The context sensitive help has been removed from each dialogue box and replaced with a link to their 'live support' operation. Incidentally, the installer now downloads and installs PC Live support without requiring any sort of confirmation. Fortunately, it can be easily removed. The installer now almost rams their Hopsurf toolbar down your throat and also reintroduces the option to install Ask as your default search engine. All of which are optional, but I'd prefer to have the default set to opt-out and not opt-in. The interface is still as confusing as ever, if not more so with the added features. the colour is a terrible choice, with no alternatives available with the shipped product to change it. Also, there is no way to clear the log files, without manually resorting to deleting files. Personally, I think version v4 is a retrograde step. 3.14 had just about reached stability, but instead of simply building on that base and perhaps incorporating ideas from their user base, they 'threw together' this far to hastily released version. if you like this security suite, I'd stay with 3.14 for now, and if you need a sandbox, use something like sandboxie.

It has none. All recent testing shows AVIRA to take the Gold medal. Comodo is not even in the top 10. Horrible detection and horrible at detecting NEW viruses/spyware. See PC WORLD for more info.

love the easy set it and let it go just wanted Commodo firewall, not it all This is a good product

Rated 10/50 by specter333 at Apr 14, 2010

Not a one. This latest version is full of bugs. One look at their support forum will verify. The scanners constantly locks up and crashes and the updater won't download a full update. Comodo used to be one of the best antivirus/firewalls out there. This latest version is so full of bugs that it's dangerous to have on your computer.
