Hey, there! Well, actually, I've been using BitSpirit for years now, and it never failed me. Most definitive comparison I had to make was with uTorrent. I wanted to download some large file and after some time, had to leave, but I was on shared computer, so I couldn't keep it, could only make a backup. So, naturally, I copied to server just this half-downloaded file - no utorrent cache data, history, settings, etc. Next day, I come back same place, downloaded backup from server and launched uTorrent - it couldn't know how to resume from this partial file (yes, it was perfectly visible for uTorrent)! I guess this is main reason for me not to use uTorrent - it stores progress separately, so you can't just backup a half-way download by copying 1 file. Period. But listen to this, I downloaded then BitSpirit, renamed it to .bt!, refetched torrent - and it worked! BitSpirit actually recalculated percent of downloaded data from uTorrent's file, missing only 2% (I guess to verify), and leaving me with 56% of previously download data. When download was finished, I checked the file and it was 100% healthy, no corruptions nor anything. That's why I prefer BitSpirit!

Great looking interface. Uses small amount of resources. I found two problems with this software that led me back to uTorrent. (see below) The first is that if you have a file that you have already downloaded to your hard drive and try to add the torrent in BitSpirit, it stays in the downloads section of the interface, and you can't move it to a category because you didn't actually download it. The context menu has a "Move to Downloaded" option, but it's grayed out and nonfunctional. If you don't actually download the file, you cannot move it to a category, and it stays in the "Downloads" section forever. I checked the author's website to try to see if they had an FAQ about this, but the FAQ section there is extremely sparse, and had no answer. The other problem is that when you want to remove a torrent, the context menu has a "Delete Torrent" option, and the submenu has three options - Delete Job Only, Delete Job and Downloads, & Delete All Associated Files. If you just want to delete the job and not the .torrent file, you would select the first option, but if you do that, the .torrent file is deleted; there is no way to remove the download from the program interface without deleting the .torrent file. I would like to use this software since it has such a nice interface, but these problems render it useless for me.

Have been using BitSpirit since is appeared out from nowhere. Then somehow BitSpirit wen under the radar, I was sure project was dead so I dropped it in favor of uTorrent, but... BitSpirit is BACK. It is better it is faster it will save the world... well perhaps not, but I'm glad I can switch over to my favorite torrent client. Like description says, it is fast, lightweight and very advanced. Word of caution though, i have run in to trouble when I had two devices on the same subnet with UPNP. It was my fault in setting up one router, it shouldn't have UPNP on. Therefore if BitSpirit status says that Port Forward has failed, check your network it may be YOUR FAULT and not the software. Cheers :)

only viable alternative to uTorrent very fast totally customizable UPNP DHT Cute Logo :) Has no cons but I can't leave this space empty because... = Error: Please enter at least 10 characters = My second BitTorrent client from years ago has spring back to live, my p2p heart couldn't be happier. Where to start... yes uTorrent is smaller and yes it is easier to configure and 1 million yes'es but so what. There is something about BitSpirit that makes you want to use it. Clean UI, very fast download speeds, problem free usage. Only problem with BitSpirit is the commonly know Carbon Error. It happens somewhere between chair and the keyboard when a wannabe fails to configure network / machine to work and blames software.

Has a reasonably nice interface and is loaded with options, but it's slow downloading compared to uTorrent and it uses a lot of memory. Overall a good program that needs some work to be in comparison to uTorrent. If you want an alternative go with Halite, it's much better.

This application is extremely fast. I have achieved speeds in the hundreds of MB's @ second. Easy to use and set up. Good design and graphics. I highly recommend it to torrent users. It's the best I have ever used. The only problem I have had with it is that It's too fast. I have to use public Internet at a local coffee shop and when it runs either it is too fast or the ISP is blocking it because I loose my connection within a few minutes. It just might be too fast for it's own good. I like the design and ease of use but I haven't been able to figure out how to limit the download speed. It just won't let you change it PERIOD. I've tried everything I can think of. Maybe someone else out there has used it also and knows something I don't. Within a few minutes of my starting it I loose my Internet connection and I wind up with a warning symbol in my notification area. The only thing I can do after that is uninstall the driver and wait 30 or 40 minutes before reinstalling the driver otherwise I still get the warning symbol. I haven't figured out if it's the ISP blocking this application ( I know they are blocking Vuze ) or if it's just so fast my processor can't handle it. I'm running a new (2 months old) computer that has Windows 7 (64 bit ) Home Premium. If anyone else has used this application I would like to hear from them and see what their experience has been. Anyone else out there having the same problem? I'm not sure which version I'm running ( I can't find the installer ). I have it I just don't know where.

Does what it intends to do. About it. Haven't found any yet. This program is worth a try. @ScottEvansonAs far as "being to fast for it's own good", I just don't know buddy. I used the setup wizard that it comes with to set the max DL speed to 3mb/sec & the max UL speed to 2mb/sec. If you're missing that setup wizard, you may need to do a reinstall.

Simple intuitive interface, perfect for novicesHuge selection of options and customization to keep power users happyLightweightRegularly updatedAttractive interface and icons No automatic update. Also Just allow yourself a few minutes to go through and explore all the options so you don't make any mistakes as it is MUCH more customizable and has many more options than uTorrent, Bit torrent etc. This is a wonderfully simple torrent program at first glance which is unobtrusive, lightweight, very stable and easy to use. However it is also jammed packed with customizable options.Simple things such as being able to set whether the memory needed to download the torrent is all allocated at the start or as it downloads, being able to preview video downloads before they are completed through the program itself, and being able to remove status bar if preferred are all little touches that set BitSpirit above the competition. The program itself sets up with a minimum of fuss and gives excellent speeds on its default settings, unlike many torrent programs. This speed and stability straight out of the box, so to speak, with an interface that anyone that has used a torrent client before will instantly be able to use, combined with its multitude of extras and options should allow both novices and power users to get to grips and enjoy the program immediately. Updates are pretty regular with the developers keeping on top of any problems that may arise, saying that tho it has never crashed on me, lost a download or given an error on a torrent. Wrap this all up with a crisp clean color scheme and interface and you have what is easily the best torrent client around at the moment, putting uTorrent, Bit Comet and Vuze to shame.

The main thing is I can browse the internet and multi-task while downloading torrents.I had to dump utorrent because it was making my computer slow and crash. not all the bells and whistles of the others. But this client downloads torrents really fast and doesn't slow your computer with high CPU usage, like utorrent and the others do. check it out. You will really like it.

Well,in a head to head test , tixati blows BitSpirit out of the water, no contest. I have tried many bittorrent clients and tixati is the fastest most reliable client I have tried.

Although I haven't downloaded this program to try it... I'd like to provide my opinion... I stick with vuze classic interface, because of it's many configuration problems... I found in utorrent I had to micromanage the queue of downloaded torrents to insure they reached 1:1 upload/download ratio.

gets the job done asks for nothing in return doesn't notify when finished it's most likely a keeper until something better comes along
