Nothing really MAJOR FALSE POSITIVE. Among the slowest Anti-Virus programs I've ever used. Upon running this program the first time (I have two other AV programs on my computer but wanted to test "the editors choice" to see if it was better) it detected a "virus" on my computer which it listed as SPR/Tool.Driverunsign in file dseo13b.exe in my downloads folder. I researched what this could possibly be and found out the ugly truth... it isn't a virus at all! DSEO (Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider) enables you to install drivers on Vista and Windows 7 (which I am currently using) that do not have certificates from Microsoft. Here is what the DSEO programmers have to say... Posted by Regeneration on September 8th, 2009, 11:49 PM It has come to our attention that several Antivirus suites have listed our Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider (DSEO) as a dangerous file. We originally created DSEO to solve the serious driver signature enforcement problem that appeared after Microsoft removed the permanent command line switch that disables driver signature enforcement in Windows Vista SP1 and Windows 7. Sadly, the only way around this is to press F8 upon startup and choose ?Disable Driver Signature Enforcement?, which is temporary and unacceptable. Microsoft has left users without an option to disable the feature permanently. Driver signature enforcement is indeed a good idea, but it is performed badly. It requires all drivers and system files to be digitally signed with a certificate or they won't run. The problem with signing your files is the fact that the certificate costs thousands of dollars. Of course, that money is not a concern for corporations such as Adobe, but for the majority of developers, which are freeware/open source developers that make no profit, this is simply unforgivable. Windows is, no doubt, the leading operating system for the personal computer. One of the reasons for its success is the unlimited amount of software available for Windows. T

It does a decent job as an anti-virus program. This is actually ad-ware. It presents you with a massive and annoying pop-up ad whenever you open it. This is the kind of thing you would use an anti-virus program to avoid, but it brings it right to you. This is unacceptable and utterly shameful. Don't use it. The ad seemed somewhat deceptive (download the premium version for free, why didn't they let you download it for free in the first place?) There are much better free anti-virus programs such as avast! and AVG. I guarantee you that they won't try to scam you.

"It works because i haven't had any problems since" The thing that i like is the care free, not having to check to see if its working you just know it is On startup it can be a bit sluggish for a few seconds, then it the hi way the fast way

"Excellent AV Program." Easy installation and setup - Regular updates install quickly - My computer is virus-free so I guess that speaks to the value of the program. Haven't seen anything I don't like. It's apparently doing the job it's meant to do. I've used many different free AV programs and this appears to be the very best.

ISSUE: BIG UPDATE PROBLEMS Even though this program is highly rated, I hate it because with my experience in updating this very troublesome program, and with Avira, their parent company's failure in fixing the ridiculous server problems with their updates. I have installed this program on many PCs, in many different locations, all with high speed connections. After every installation, I had problems updating this program. It would take 30 minutes or longer to update, or sometimes never. I checked their forums, and many users have been having my exact problems, for many months, and yet lazy Avira has not fixed this huge problem. Shame on Avira.

"One of the best free antivirus." I have been using antivirus for 1 year now and I dont have any problem with it. It scan faster than most antivirus. And the detection rate is quite good.People should be using this if they want more safety. Nothing bad.

"Too many false positives make it troublesome" It will indeed catch the vast majority of virus intrusions There were positives on files that I knew could not be infected.

Excellent virus protection, fully functional free program Lots of pop-ups prompting you to upgrade to the paid version, a little slow when running a full scan (slower than expected anyway) Excellent, as in top-of-the-line, protection even when testing using some pretty reckless testing techniques (specifically downloading and running a virus, unsafe browsing, etc.) But it does annoy you with a pop-up pretty much every time you boot the computer prompting you to upgrade at cost. Also updates are a little annoying as they can come up in front of your active window causing the active status to be lost. If you're in the middle of typing something, this can be extra annoying. I'd recommend it to those that want top notch security and don 't mind the annoyances, but for most folks I recommend Avast or AVG.

"Powerful, and Free" High detection rate, powerful real time protection, secure, free Long updates, long scans, pop up after updates Avira's free antivirus is one of the best. It has very high detection rates when scanning measuring at 98.9%. It's real time protection is very detectable because of its huge library against known threats

one thing that i do like is, this product constantly asked what you want to do with each new virus or Trojan found! the scary part is, it seems to take over your existing security system and doe's lock you out of your computer for 24 to 36 hour's! . i really don't care about the fact that this company, right before they lock you out of your computer, gives that big ultimatum either buy or else! ... well you know black out for 24 to 36 hours, with no excess whats so ever to your PC! ... ''I am gonna report this to ''AVAST''! ...''MY SECURITY SYSTEM PROVIDER''

"less false positives than avg" less false positives than avg, seems pretty good often difficult to connect to their servers to retrieve updated definitions, naggy pop-up ad when updating

"Don't go near it if you have Windows 7 !" Not a lot to say! After loading (took several attempts and had to turn off Comodo firewall) it then failed to update, so even if Avira launch a patch it wont get through! After downloading the signature update manually it then gave false positives for common software!
