It stops most viruses and that is a plus for free software. It isn't top of the line, but it is free. For reasonably good antivirus free software, this is great.

I like this program for it's ease of use. Not much to dislike really.

Seems to be doing what it's supposed toIt's not intrusive, so I hardly notice it's thereFast when scanning and updatingDoesn't seem to hog all my memory or processor like others have Nagware--about once every 24 hrs a pop up ad asks if you want to upgrade to the paid version. I just click the "x" to close the window and it stays gone until the next day. It was recommended to me by an IT security professional and has lived up to all my expectations for an antivirus program. I am pleasantly surprised to see that it doesn't use up a lot of my system memory, and I don't experience high cpu usage from it even when it's updating or scanning. Those were my chief complaints with my last AV software. The upgrade ad that pops up every day isn't as annoying as what I remember when my Norton was due for renewal.

I like the ease of installation as well as the ease of use for me, especially since I am not very computer "savvy." A great program to protect my computer and help me feel confident that I have the best protection available. There is nothing I dislike about this product. I like this virus protection program. It is always updated (my prior "free" virus protection program (Avast) wasn't always updated in a timely manner and I had to manually update it quite often, leaving me feeling that the program didn't work properly.

It is a free version that is making me think I should look at the paid version instead of the Paid version I currently use. It is free and works Some what slow in the scanning I have not used long enough to comment much on the functions of this program. To date though I am impressed with it. Maybe after some time of use I will update. This is on a computer that is old and was not working when given to me. I updated AntiVir from version that was originally installed.

It alerts you if there is a threat detected, and does so very well. Has great definitions and heuristics. Offers better protection than many leading anti-viruses. I enjoyed using this program. Looks better than the older version. Gives you an ad when it updates, but still at least it updates automatically. this is a really good program to use, And I've never had a problem with it, or it's previous programs, people should use use it!

Recommended by the IT manager at work for home use. Also did some online comparisons and read reviews. Seems to work fine, but then I surf pretty safely. None except the popup asking you to upgrade to the paid version, but can't hardly blame them for that. It hasn't caught anything yet, but as far as I know it hasn't missed anything either.

this is my favorite freeware security.! it can detect any virus though many false but at least it can detect and block the viruses, no need to scan PC! that's a good protection for me. scanning whole PC! is too hustle for me many false positive well that's fine. ONE OF MY FAVORITE

The free version works well and updates quickly. It has stopped many potential threats. There are pop up screens that that ask you to buy it. There are a few other screens that pop up that seem to be kind of a nuisance. Based on the few months I have had this free version installled, I would say it works quite well. I have had no real problems with it. I am kind of curious about the claims made for the paid version.. They make some pretty strong sounding claims for it.

Avira AntiVir Personal Edition has pretty good virus detection, ah yes i have to say it's lightning fast reaction (maybe the fastest i have ever seen). Configuration is more-less enough for stand alone Anti-Virus that type. Developers could at least put some more protection Guards in it. It doesn't matter if this product is free, some free Antiviruses have more protection (shields), but behind all, e.g. several free Antiviruses have more protection built-in.

It deletes EVERYTHING. Deletes Windows operating programs. DO NOT install this product if you wish to continue having a computer. It deleted my Win32 dll file. Hence my computer would not start any more. The computer just went in circles trying to start, but couldn't. When I would plug in an external drive, the Avira program would detect it as a threat. (Did not matter which ones I would plug in) This is a very dangerous program. Choose another one. I am going to try the Microsoft Security Essentials next. A tech buddy had suggested it. It is FREE to download.

Pros would be the very good detection rate and very light on resources, about 20 Mb of course the nagging screen, that pops up, when the software is updated. Rare automatic update The bottom-line would be - this is a free product with a detection rate better than most paid ones. It is very light and very good. But what doesn't stop me from thinking, is that who's better the 09' or he 10' version. No one has compared this, some say, the 09 is better some say other stuff. It is hard to choose if you see only the change in appearance. So, it would be nice that there were a comparison between these two products, detection rate of known and new threats...

I have have tried most free AV programs and this is not bad. Low on resources stays out the way once you get rid of pesky AD!! Nabbed many pieces of malware in real -time, plus found viruses AVG could not. The update function does give error message too often. Needs to be set-up to run when idle. I have 128mb of RAM and 800 MHZ CPU. Find out how to disable pop-up ad on You Tube.......Piece of cake.

Detection of viruses is very much better, need less resources, silently work in a task bar. Slow updation I like it because it uses less resources. Features & functions must be easy to understand, I havent seen any Advertisement. after all it is free to use.

Avira has the best detection rates that otehr anti virus has even paid anti virus. The speed of updates aren't so bad. Fast scan. Lightweight software which it wouldn't lag your system. Easy interface for all users. Not really. I saw the otehr comments saying that Avira closes at himself, yeah BUT u only cant o in to anti-virus,u can update,u have real-time protection,if u cant get in just click with the left botton of mouse and chooce what u want. True protection.
