"Even better than AVG." Easy to download and to startup. Protection is spot on and it is very easy to use. I like this very much, has already saved me from grief. None to think of. I would reccomen this to newbies and old hands.

An excellent program. For the record though - the latest build is actually 9.0.0.418, not 9.0.0.452 as posted here. Someone is posting false information. This is also the build this link will download.

So Avira has never given you a false positive? Funny. Today, courtesy of Avira: (quote)Virus or unwanted program 'TR/Ag.289584.AA [trojan]' detected in file 'C:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe.(end quote) And, when submitted to Avira for review, this response was already in place: (quote)uTorrent.exe 282.8 KB FALSE POSITIVE The file 'uTorrent.exe' has been determined to be 'FALSE POSITIVE'. In particular this means that this file is not malicious but a false alarm.(end quote) But hey, at least it wasn't a popular program or anything. This is ROUTINE with Avira--unless you run a total of around 3 different applications on your system, and never change them.

I got the same warning- uTorrent trojan. Well, that's a first for me in about a year and a half. In a way I'm relieved to know it was a FP, but I'm upset that I uninstalled uTorrent and spent half the day cleaning out files and registry entries I didn't have to.

And then we have Lsavagejt's response above: "I'm upset that I uninstalled uTorrent and spent half the day cleaning out files and registry entries I didn't have to." And isn't that the crux of why FPs are such a bad thing? At best you have some of your time wasted dismissing the warnings and adding exclusions until they get around to fixing the problem (which is another thing--you either have to keep checking or guess when they HAVE fixed the problem); at worst you do what Lsavagejt did, and pull your hair out thinking you have an infection when you don't.

"Protection is good" Protection is effective Method of installation is disgusting. You are required to fill a form and connect to the internet. I believe that if you do not have other malware blocking program installed, by the time you finish installing Avira you would have loaded some malware Installation involves a lot of task.

"Best for Anti-Virus" Easy to use. Best for personal use and for those who don't know some troubleshooting with viruses. Handy. It just takes time to open the control panel, about 5-10 seconds, but, it is useful.

"Awesome Software." Easy to use. Only takes one hour and 15 min to scan. Theres nothing I don't like about it. I like this software because it's so easy to use and you can pick when and how it scans.

"Silent, unintrusive" After using AVG, I changed to Avira AntiVir and it did his work always on a set time, everyday. I hardly noticed. I even decided to go pro. It also update itself as soon as I go online It does not show the vault or specify the virus detected. After going pro, I learn that the license has a limited duration, not announced when you purchase the first one. Now, I feel duped and don't know if I will pay or change anti-virus silent, unintrusive, but does not tell you everything

"Good interface, stable, not enough config options." Attractive interface, easy to setup. Doesn't blue screen my XP Pro SP3 system like AVG did. Easy/fast download updates. Config options are not as complete as on other products. Command line option not available (for use w/ download managers, etc.). Had to download a separate app for command line use, wasn't clear how to update the virus defs for the command line app. I liked AVG for setup & config better, but it kept blu-screening my system. This product is more stable, but not as flexible. No command line app.

Easy to set up; good interface NO North American Contact Phone Number if you have problem, and finding an e-mail contact, through the programs 'Help' file is abnormally difficult. Response time is very poor - can take days to get any type of reply ! The product will do what it is suppose to but if Avira wants to join the "big" boys in the Antivirus category, it MUST have a lot better PR for its International users... seems that they are glued to the European market which will do those of use NOT living there absolutely no good when help is needed !

"Works well - so far" Easy to use, doesn't slow down the system too much. Can't really figure out whether it works - it hasn't detected anything yet. I installed it on a system which I suspect is infected, but it hasn't really fixed anything yet.
