off-hand, don't know of any On boot have a nagscreen to switch to paid version. Wouldn't update. In their forum found others had same difficulty and was provided with a fix that worked. The nag screen disappeared for a few days and restarted a couple of days ago. And no method to eliminate it from their setup info provided. Needless to say will switch to another program, probably this weekend, probably AVG 9 free. It's now updating automatically. The average person would not have my patience or simply wouldn't be aware that they weren't being updated, hence a huge risk.

Avira Antivir Personal Edition, is an excellent solution for the home user, looking for a feeware antivirus. Contrary to Avira's own information, the freeware version has good capabilities also in removing Trojans spyware and other threats. False positives are relativelt high but the average users are unlikely to suffer from this, as they are still quite rare. The freeware version has one annoyance - it opens a popup window to advertise the paid version whenever the antivirus is updates (once every work day). This might be an annoyance if it pops up during a game which requires fast response. Until you remove the ads, you lose points. As an antivirus it is better than most of the non-free antivirus programs, and is quite light on computer resources. Thus highy recommended.

- Light Application interms of use of resources. - Effective in picking up viruses and trojans. - Anti-Malware detection included. - Provides a virus database online to view what type of virus or trojan you're dealing with. - Nag screen for upgrade to Premium Edition. - Slow startup on older systems but not by much to complain about. - Updates take a while (usually 1 min or less) to start. An excellent Free Antivirus to keep. I've tested many AV's for several years and Avira comes first place with the highest detection rate and lesser false positives. Currently no other Free AV comes close to detection and removal! I would recommend downloading this product on any machine.

Doesn't bog down computer A huge annoying upgrade ad pops up once a day I have tried AVG and it was always letting viruses in, I have tried Kaspersky and it was always freezing my computer up, and now I am using Avira and so far I've been really pleased. Easy to use, doesn't bog down my computer, and detected a virus that neither AVG or Kaspersky ever found. I should also mention I use Avira with the real-time version of Malawarebytes and I feel my system is secure now.

"it is good quality product, i am happy to use the produ" i want to use this product no complain

Free or paid, its the best no matter what they throw at it. Detection is the most important aspect of an AV, some say it has to clean good, I agree but then what will you clean if you can't detect it in first place.

I like it and paid for the license. It has never shown me a false positive. The few times it warned me is when I was leak testing a firewall and there was an option to deny access. Low memory and cpu usage and regular updates. I don't like having to burn a recovery cd. It should just clean in safe mode like avast.

"Exc. anti virus, so good I bought the full version.." Got a great offer very soon after installing the freeware product, and was so impressed with the freebie that I did buy the pro version. Updates are almost installed before you can connect to the net, and it updates quite often. No cons with this software, but would suggest if you get a good offer to upgrade, take it. Never had a prob. with avira, does its job well, I think this must be the best freebie out there, certainly ticks all the boxes for me.
