Free, works, and easy to use Don't have any cons at this time I've been searching and trying all kinds of things to get an icon and there was always something that didn't work. Most of the time, the product I used converted the "transparent" to white and I couldn't get it back. This tool didn't do that and was so easy to use that I was inspired to fix a few of my other icons! Thank you!!!!

It can import almost any image file and create up-to-date icons, even with transparent backgrounds. And, now that I've figured out how to output png files for Linux purposes, it seems like it does everything a person could possibly want. It isn't made for Linux. I've spent many happy hours designing 32x32 icons in Goldshell's formerly free icon editor and wishing I could work with some of the higher resolution icons. IcoFX is like a dream come true. There is a small learning curve, but the online help pages are actually helpful and I'm sure that this will become an essential part of any developer's toolkit.

I've been using IcoFX for maybe 2 years now?. It's refreshingly simple to use and the results always pass my expectations! I've never come close to needing it's help program so I'm not even sure if it has one at the moment..sorry.. The pc I originally installed it on(is still on) runs XP Pro and I was worried it wouldn't make the transition when I built a new pc and installed Win 7 Ultimate ..I use a 1T USB storage drive which I now use with this new pc.. It has copies of the program files off the xp computer so I opened the IcoFX folder and dragged the exe to my taskbar and selected create shortcut here..and that was that.. it works even better with WIN 7! and screaming fast.. Special thanks to the developer(s). 'droid

First of all it is free. Second: it does almost everything I need it to do: convert pictures to icons, create and edit icons. It probably suits everyone's average needs on that matter. TIFF conversion isn't on the list of features. A minor shortcoming. After searching and testing some apps that just don't work the way they should, IcoFX came to ease my mind. I will look no further.

Lots of pros: Allowed me to create 3d looking icons very easily. Creating multi resolution windows or mac icons is a snap. The only cons it has is i cons. Brilliant product. Can't believe its free. Max size of icons is 512 x 512, if this limit is removed it could even act as a paint program.

Minimal learning curve; does what it is supposed to do. No cons found yet. Easy to create icons with transparent background; ability to save as a Windows icon; can save in various sizes; up close magnification for sharp detail.

Free icon manager that works well Dows not work with TIFF files. Has not been updated in a few years. May not work with Windows 7. From his website: "Create icons for Windows 98 / ME / 2000 / XP / Vista" Cnet does not include Vista as one of the support OS's.

Does everything about icons. Nothing is missing Does not support uni-code characters so if i want to open an image i first have to copy it to a directory with no uni-code characters, with is annoying. When it is time to save the icon i have to save it to a non uni-code directory and then move it!! Please make it support uni-code

A solid tool for creating, and editing icons. The interface is simple, yet powerfull enough to satisfy most. Brought to us free of charge by IconFX. None as far as i can see. I was able to convert some of my pictures to icons in minutes...a 'crop' tool is included as well. Creating icons from scratch is straight forward with a color chooser,a toolbar similar to 'mspaint',a zoomed window to paint on,and has an 'actuall size' preview box to watch your progress. The program does exactly what it claims. My icon utility search is over.
