Buy the "Big Book of Windows Hacks" by Preston Gralla, O'Reilly Publishing. (available at Amazon) Use the book to do what this program does without buying just a pretty GUI. The book lists plenty of free programs to help you and XP and Vista are both covered in it. I used WinOptimizer before and the suggested changes weren't helpful. The book is helpful.

I just found out about this app and tried it. First - FIFTY BUCKS??? Are you Kidding Me??? That is WAY too much money for such an app. Not only that, it really doesn't offer anything that you don't already get somewhere else for a lot less. Free even! My goodness, what a rip off. Yes, it does seem to work, but it is a bad value. I think a score of 2 is warranted. Not bad enough to get a 1, cause it really does run fine and do the job. It's just - $50 bucks??? Wow...

Many useful functions, including performance optimisation, registry cleaner, defragmenter right on down to system information including your windows key (useful if like me you upgrade cases and lose the sticker). Some functions are notavailable on 64 bit OS - or it would have got 5 stars. An excellent product. Possibly my favourite is the ease with which you can control auto start applications and windows services. The defragmentor is also good and with visualisation in my opinion is superior to the one supplied with Vista. The Internet tuner did not seem to have a noticable effect on my system, but possibly it was already well optimised. Tweaks are easily performed and useful, but beware of side effects such as when removing the arrow on the shortcuts icon which also removes the favorite links in Vista. The Undeleter function can also prove valuable following any inadvertent deletions (happens to us all I believe). All in all Winoptimizer does more than it says on the tin for 32 bit Operating Systems, and is still usefull enough on 64 bit Operating Systems to persuade me to part with my cash, after I had tried it. Give it a go for free and only pay if like me you find it too useful to be without.

Quick easy no brainer operation The programme is upgraded but costs too much for customers who have the previous version Ashampoo have lots of excellent software progs but if you buy a 2year package yours is obsolete before the 2years are up then you get reminders about upgrade at the full cost surely as an excisting customer a reduced cost to upgradge shouldbe made an option for one to consider

Perfect for turning off unnecessary windows backround programs and finally deleting the stupid RECYCLER which does nothing more then get clogged. Easy to use and worth the money for anyone who knows/wants to clean their systems on a regular basis. no cons as they have always provided great products Ashampoo continues to crank out great no-frills programs doing exactly what they say w/o all the spyware or other unnecessary stuff that comes with every other inferior program u buy. I have used quite a few of their programs and you get more than u pay for.

"DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM" Nothing...it ruined my computer I installed this program on 2 of my computers and ran it on one of them and restarted it. BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH popped up after installing. never had this problem before using this program. Now I am scared to restart my other computer

drive cleaning is excellent,registry cleaning is also good.it has auto startup optimizer which is really cool.it can search and recover deleted files it can also delete file which system cant.in this version it has anti spyware system setting. internet tuner is not good enough.def-rag dnt work always its good for those user who dont want their optimizer software to delete any system file which corrupt the whole system.i have used it and it didnt give me that kind of trouble. it can give u full control of every setting of ur system even icons setting so u can change ur system in ur style.it also make a file password protected by encrypt it.it can also split and rejoin big file. so good luck

Works ok............. 19.99 for 1 month is very expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not buy!!! they will screw you over!!!!! you have to pay everytime it updates!!!!!!!!! RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Updated on Sep 30, 2009 customer service is horrible. I sent them a message saying that when my paid version updated it made me take a 30day trial. after waiting for 4 days they sent me a link to a download which gave me a 40 day free trial. Do not buy any programs from this company they will rip you off!!!!!!!!!

"Too many expensive "upgrades" constantly available" Seems to do its job well I paid once for this program. I resent being asked every few months to pay again to upgrade it. Ignore the so-called upgrades

Easy to use and seems to work okay. A nice selection of tools and utilities for various tweaks, speedups and the like. Cant say I notice any great difference when I use it in terms of pc speed. I object to paying for tools that come for free with windows anyway!Chk Disk, defrag and SFC for example. Easy enough to use the interface is easy on the eyes but a lot of the tweaks can be done for free with the aid of a websearch and bundling microsoft tools which you get for free anyway seems a bit of a rip off. I guess you pays your money (as I have done) and takes your choice. Im sure most people can live without this software though.

"Easy to use but some features difficult to find" Easy to use. Defrag scheduling utility. Hard to set up auto scans and also to save cookies you want to save. Seems more powerful than Norton One Button Check up.

very easy to use, and has some good features well so i have heard from the reviews on here and doing some searching myself the amount you have to pay for updates i used to have glary utilities but thought i would give this a try with 40 full trial but after hearing about the amount of times you have to pay this company , i think i will be going back to glary utilities unless i can find something better and for free

"Better than before, excellent defrag included." Greatly improved over v 5. None found yet I have used winoptimzer 2009 V5 for over a year, always works never had any issues.Upgraded to V6 last week. New functions are worth paying for, they include an intelligent defrag option and improved cleanup algorithms.
